The MSC Malaysia – Ericsson CR Innovation Awards is a competition for Malaysian application developers to develop fixed and mobile communication applications that benefit various communities.

eHomemakers’ innovative application, the Distributed Work Management Application  (DWMA, now known as ECHO) is a PC-to-mobile collaborative marketing tool on an integrated platform that enables one team member to efficiently coordinate various income-generating schemes for the disadvantaged women of the Salaam Wanita project.

“People who are homebound due to illnesses or disability or high cost of travel can receive work tasks or orders via their mobile phones without leaving the house, while the DWMA coordinator can effectively manage the programme without leaving the office for face-to-face meetings or engaging in long tedious phone calls,” said Chong.

The DWMA has been used to manage income-earning schemes and training programmes for Salaam Wanita. In the long term, eHomemakers plans to use the customized versions of the DWMA to further develop teleworking and home-based entrepreneurship in Malaysia, besides helping international development/ rescue agencies, NGOs, and governments in poverty projects, emergencies or to accomplish social missions.
