KUALA LUMPUR, May 23 – The draft on guidelines for working from home will be presented to the Cabinet next month.
This was stated by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil.
She said that her ministry was working with the Housing and Local Government Ministry and local authorities to come up with the guidelines.
“The proposed guidelines will encompass the rules and regulations set by the local authorities on the premises that are used for the purpose of conducting work from the home,” she said at the Dewan Negara sitting here today.
She was replying to a question from Senator Nik Azizah Nik Yahya on the measures taken by the ministry to develop the concept of working from home.
Datuk Seri Shahrizat said the ministry was also drafting a book of guidelines to make it easier for people wanting to venture into the sector to get the necessary basic information.
Datuk Seri Shahrizat said the book would also provide an explanation on the concept and benefits of working from the home and this would include information on establishing and developing the business.
The draft on the guideline book would be also presented to the government for approval, she said.
“With this information, further appropriate measures such as the provision of financial incentives and training can be looked into for those working from their homes,” she said.
