It is the modern concept of Small Office and Home Office -- the operation of a digital-enabled (computer/phone/fax/VOIP/digital tools) working environment at home. There can be as few as one computer and as many as your home and wallet can accommodate. You can be a teleworker, telecommuter, a freelancer or run your own home based business. A SOHO may be operated by an independent entrepreneur running his/her business from home, i.e. operating a home based business as a SOHO. In eHomemakers’ community, this person is called a”homepreneur”.

Conversely, SOHO operators may be employees of a corporation working from home, i.e., telecommuting from a SOHO. In Malaysia, the Small Office Home Office (SOHO) work concept is gaining momentum especially with the advances in ICT (Information & Communication Technology).
